Bangor, Maine Prepares Emergency Response Teams For Potential Zombie Outbreak
The Government's Advanced Warning - CDC Zombie Survival Guide
Over the past several years the zombie has been the major star in horror movies and frightful public events. The cause of this ancient monsters sudden leap back into the limelight is thought to be guided by societies fear of an apocalypse carried out by an unknown zombie or rage virus. According to news officials, it's not just horror fans and survivalists that have expectations of a zombie take over, but several government offices as well.
A few years ago the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) issued a notice or guide of sorts on surviving a zombie apocalypse. Though the CDC quickly stated that the release was meant to be funny, they were also firm in their statement that the tips contained within the notice were still very important and should be taken into careful consideration.
It was most likely at this point that people, on a large scale level, started to take the threat seriously, Prior to this, it had been nothing more than the ramblings of a few crazy sign bearers, claiming "the end was near", and low budget horror films, warning us of the impending zombie plague.
Cannibalism Outbreak
The act of cannibalism is nothing new to the world, though rarely practiced in today's society, for obvious reasons. According to several different media sources this gruesome act has made a major comeback over the last few years taking the crime spotlight over the last several weeks.
Though most of the cannibalistic acts, such as Rudy Eugene's attack on a homeless man in Miami, or Otty Sanchez' violent murder of her child before feasting on his brain, do not fit the description of the typical zombie, they match up quite well to the rage type viruses found in movies like The Crazies only on a smaller more contained level.
Local police departments and the local media were immediately making drug related excuses for these violent acts, claiming the attackers were using a street drug called Bath Salts. Though I do agree that drugs such as this and synthetic marijuana can't possibly be good for you, I could never bring myself to believe they were causing people to crave human flesh.
Several weeks after the grizzly murders toxicology reports cams back on Rudy Eugene, no bath salts or other synthetic drugs were found in his system, only a small trace of marijuana.
So we can obviously rule out drug use, as none of the other attackers were found to have been using the synthetic drug either. Leaving us to believe it is either a hard hitting form of mental illness that takes over the brain at a very fast rate, or perhaps some sort of slow moving virus or disease that hasn't yet started spreading at the alarming rates found in movies and television programs.
Do you believe there may be a new rage virus on the loose?
The Government Prepares For The Worst
Up until recently, it was still pretty easy to deny any thought of mankind's demise or an impending doom actually happening in our lifetime, but it seems now that State officials aren't as sure as they've always claimed to be.
It was only 3 weeks ago that the U.S. Government denied the existence of zombies or a zombie virus, but now the state of Maine has began preparing emergency teams, for just such an event. Eight separate counties were involved in the training exercise that took place in Bangor, Maine.
There were over one hundred emergency responders being trained to handle a zombie or rage virus outbreak, in the event of an actual emergency. Each responder was given two vaccines to use, one preventing the infection from reaching the brain, and the other to bring the cannibalistic attackers out their zombified state.
Officials taking part in the exercise stated "We have identified in several states, particularly Texas,New York and Illinois outbreaks of these civil disturbances and biting". Though the event was completely staged with local residents playing the zombies, it shows that the Government is now willing to spend both time and money to prepare for an epidemic that they, only weeks ago, denied being a possibility.
